YOUR day, YOUR way!
Wedding Rituals
There are many things that can be incorporated into a wedding ceremony to make it unique and special. One of those is to add in a ritual that means something to you.
Here are just a few options:
Handfasting: ribbons/cords tied around the couples hands by either the celebrant or special friends of the couples, as blessings/good wishes are said over them.
Candle lighting: The couple light their own candle then jointly light a larger one denoting the 2 separate lives becoming one.
Sand Pouring: Coloured sands are poured into a larger vessel to show a pretty pattern. The sands being mixed, symbolizing the difficulty of unmixing them. Especially works well when families are blending and children can be involved as well.

what couples say
James & Esther
From discussing our initial ideas to the ceremony itself, Mary-Jo filled me with total confidence. She approached our ceremony with an open mind, combining a celtic handfasting and ring warming to bible readings to ensure that our ceremony reflected us as individuals and celebrated our two families coming together. Mary-Jo had a wonderful, calm, positive presence, putting us at ease on our big day and garnering a lot of really positive comments from our guests too!
Ollie & Martina
Mary-Jo was wonderful in helping us organise our ceremony from when she came to visit us. Together we created personal and meaningful wedding vows and we had a love binding ceremony in which some of our guests could take part. That all made our ceremony so special and even now our guests talk about the ceremony.
Mary-Jo ensured that this part of the day was relaxed, fun and reflected us as a couple, having taken the time to get to know us in the run up to the wedding. We loved working with you and wish we could do it all over again!.
Mike & Kelly
From the first no-obligation meeting with Mary-Jo, myself and my partner Kelly knew she would be perfect for our special day and we were right. MJ gave us some brilliant ideas for our ceremony that we would never have thought about ourselves. We decided to do sand blending as part of our ceremony so that our 5 year old daughter could also be a part of it, MJ also incorporated a couple of “I do” questions for our daughter which was a lovely touch. My wife was very apprehensive about our ceremony but MJ made her feel very at ease and was brilliant throughout. I cannot recommend her enough. Our ceremony was very small and intimate but by the end of our meetings beforehand we felt like we knew MJ really well and she knew us too so we felt really comfortable throughout. She was amazing and made our ceremony exactly what we had imagined. Thank you MJ it was a pleasure to have you as part of our day.
Sophie & Jonathan
We can100% recommended Mary-Jo to make your service bespoke and special. Mary-Jo was amazing from start to finish. We had a lot of support, suitable readings, poems, vows etc from her. She took the time to listen, ask and engage and this meant that when the first ceremony draft came through, we loved it and needed very little edits. It was beautiful., she made sure the stories were personal and meaningful to us. Mary-Jo also penned some French dialogue so our French guests felt included. It was a great day, and the ceremony was central to that.
Wedding Format
Of course, each wedding is different, depending on the couple. You can choose how long or short you want your service to be, and whether you want all or some of the below elements (or something else) and in what order. But to give you a guide as to what elements can be included in a service here is a general format:

Love Story
Song

Vows & Promises

Exit Procession
My services to YOu
Often people think that the Celebrants job is to just stand up for an hour and read a script, and of course that is part of it, but there is so much more to it than that.
All of the scripts that I write are unique to the couples involved. I spend the time to get to know you and your stories - what makes you tick, what your heritages are, why you love one another and the hopes you have for your marriage. I then craft that into a bespoke service including some or all of the elements above, ensuring that it flows smoothly throughout the service.
My services includes:
Pre-contract no-obligation introductory meeting
Wedding questionnaire
Approx. 4hrs zoom meetings to discuss ceremony wishes
Creation of ceremony script, including ritual wordings
Unlimited revisions to script
Liaison with Wedding Planner, Venue and Musicians
Pre-wedding visit to venue
Early arrival (2 hrs prior) and delivery of wedding service.
Wedding certificate and folder, vows booklet, quote from wedding printed on card ready to frame.
Price: €750

oTHER CEREMONIES
Weddings are not the only thing worth celebrating!
Why not have a ceremony to celebrate a special anniversary, or a renewal of vows.
Baby naming - an alternative to a christening, where you celebrate the birth of your baby and formally name them. Again there are many rituals that can be utilised, such as feet/hand casting, candle lighting, sand blending, blessing boxes/time capsules. Tree planting etc.
Coming of age - a rite of passage from adolescence into adulthood.
Final Goodbyes - A life passing deserves to be recognized, with dignity and respect. Writing eulogies based on memories and love is a speciality.
Using MJSCeremonies for any of the above, means that you will have a specially hand-crafted ceremony just for you. Tailored around your wishes and desires.
Uniquely Yours!
New!- Living Legacy
As a new service, I am also offering ‘Living Legacy’ – a chance for you to be involved in what is said about you at your funeral.
Family and friends don’t know everything there is to know about you – what memories you treasured as you grew up.
So why not sit down and discuss your life and memories with me so I can create a eulogy for you, saving your family the heartache and worry about this when the time comes.
This can be done from the privacy of your own home. I will send you a questionnaire to complete, then we will meet over the internet. I will then draft a eulogy for your review.
When the sad time arrives, loved ones can deliver it at your service, only having to add what their best memory of you is!
